Support for 3D characters with skeletal animations shipped yesterday with the latest version of Adobe Photoshop CC. “Photoshop is among the easiest tools in the world to combine 2D and 3D art.” “We’re very excited that Adobe will offer this new functionality in Photoshop,” said Stefano Corazza, CEO of Mixamo. To showcase the new workflow and capabilities, Adobe distributed 3D demo assets created by Mixamo to Photoshop users at its annual creativity conference, Adobe MAX 2014, which began on October 4th. “Now with Mixamo’s technology, we can import 3D characters along with their animations into Photoshop, edit and export them using one of the world’s most popular design tools.” “More and more, the worlds of 2D and 3D are intersecting,” said Winston Hendrickson, vice president of engineering, digital imaging products at Adobe. Those models can then be rigged and animated in minutes using Mixamo’s online animation service. Using Mixamo’s character creator software, Fuse, artists can create 3D characters with drag-and-drop simplicity. Mixamo’s technology has been designed from the ground up to democratize the 3D character creation process. > See Also: Mixamo to Unreal Engine 4 Workflow Once imported into Photoshop CC, artists can use the animated characters for a number of workflows, such as creating animations, 2D/3D compositing, 3D painting of character textures, and 3D printing. Now Adobe® Photoshop® CC users have the ability to import animated 3D characters in COLLADA format. While we are on the subject, is there anyway to move rigged objects inside photoshop (basically set your own positions on a 3d model made in Fuse).Mixamo, Inc announced it worked with Adobe to provide support for the use of 3D animated characters in the latest release of Photoshop CC. Adobe, if you are listening, I am willing to pay a little extra on my creative cloud monthly if you could somehow work it back into existence. I relied on this feature so much for my work so I would be really grateful. If anyone has an alternate solution, please share. If you select the wrong animation you need to do it all over again. The only work around now is to go through the Mixamo website but it adds so many more steps to this work flow. They insisted that this was the reason and nothing more could be done. I followed up by asking them to confirm because this function worked for months after Fuse was discontinued (which sometime in 2020 and I started having issues around April 2021). After three days with support trying everything from installing, re-installing PS, going back to the 2019 version, they finally came back with the answer that since Fuse has been discontinued it has affected this function in PS. I had the same issue around the same time as you.
